Heroes and Rebels
Wood, paper, vellum, gouache, acrylic, and LEDs

24x18x3"
2011

This triptych explores some of the ways that Americans have adopted Native American fashion and design to convey status as rebel, warrior, or peace-lover. For instance, World War II paratroopers were the first European Americans to don the Mohawk. The outer pattern is inspired by Iroquois beadwork.
